I have a case 970 that keeps breaking steering actuator covers.
Seems to happen on random when steering and using brakes at
same time. Both turn stops are on the spindles and on the steering
gear. Checked pressure on the upper hydraulic line off of pump and
had 500 psi at idle which was a little high I thought so I took steering
relief valve apart and found the check ball seat had screwed itself out
so reinstalled and now have about a 100 psi at idle and 1800 rpm
have around 400 psi. When I start turning steering wheel or hitting
breaks pressure jumps to 800 psi. Does that sound correct? My
manual states at 1800 rpm should have 230-315 psi without any
load. Tractor has power brakes with oil cooler and powershift
