CASE A504 Head alignment dowels

Does anybody know where to get the cylinder head alignment dowels A43450? Or if anybody has measurements of one so I can build them?

I never have seen them or used them. I have seen guys cut some long bolts off for dowles, but you have to lift the head up over them and slide them down. I Always aligned head gaskets over sleeve bosses and set the heads on and threaded in the head bolts by hand. Then used intake manifold to align all 3 heads before torqueing head bolts down.

I'm with ACG, never used em, long studs r ok, keeps u from sliding the gasket out of place but if careful not needed either. On the later engines I use the water manifold manifold without gaskets to align the heads.

easily made on a turning lathe, drill and tap them for 1/4-20 bolts to be used for removal

I made a set of dowels and do like to use them all the time. 30 series are slightly different than the 70's and later use. They do hold the gasket in perfect alignment
for me as sometimes I struggle to set that back head in the dog house on 70 series without bumping the gasket. Then just use a magnet to pick them out of the head once
set in place. I also install the water and intake manifolds without gaskets before tightening any head bolts. Interesting to hear how other people have success doing
things slightly different, Rod.

I am building this engine on the floor in my shop so I have no clearance issues from the machine. I have never seen an engine without cylinder head alignment dowels. And I have built hundreds of engines!

On my 700 I use the intake manifold method works like a charm every time. The gaskets will set in place themselves on the sleeve flange. Spray them with Copper coat on set them in place.
