thats a model 603Would somebody know what model of brush cutter this is?
Thank youthats a model 603
they ,made these starting in the 40's and built versions of them through 1970,,I have the 3pt one without wheels. There was a 4 blade one with a chute on it to blow stocks into a wagon. Mine came with a vac i bought even though I didn't think I would ever use it on my 2acres. I even tried to sell it. Guy said the vac was used almost exclusively for mowing so I thought the mower was as old as the tractor, but if the online parts catalog is correct it is about a 1968 vintage. A few years ago I got a new neighbor and he as 60 acres and I mow for him now and use my cutter every week. Had to replace a ujoint (Your local JD dealer should have the one you need) and a blade. THe closest blade I could find was for a woods mower. Catalog said they were the right ones as far as cut goes, but when I got them they are cut the wrong way so I had to install them upside down. The 2 sided blades originally on that cutter are not availible. When i broke my blade, John Saeli fixed me up with some RHino blades that did fit, but they were about 3 times the weight of the Case blades. I thought swinging that weight might be hard on the gearbox so when I found the Woods blades I switched.
The best part about these cutters is how quiet they run. I can hear neigbors running their various cutters from 1/4 mile away. My Case makes about as much noise as a box fan.
the four blades with the mounted shredder plate makes them grind material in to almost powder, I have not been able to find a CASE one here yet to buy but do have the ih version, I call them Shredders if they have four blades,, not just for the forage cutter unit for green chopping,,Those woods blades are ok except if you were blowing into the wagon. They have no holes to bolt the lift paddles on. Since you have 4 blades it looks like someone intended to collect corn stocks or forage with it.
