Case combine

I have an engine that came out of a 600 or 660 case combine. I need to know how to tell the difference. The serial tag
doesn't have a model number just a serial number.

I belive the 600 had a Case 188 engine and the 660 had a Case 201 engine

Yes but how do i tell physically the difference?

There is really no way to tell unless you remove the cylinder head to measure the bore

I thought the engines were different length. The 600 engine would fit a case tractor. The 660 engine was longer but would still fit

By posting the engine number someone my be able to tell.I own a few 660 with the 201 engine and the later model 201 engine had the oil filter horizontal on the right front as the earlier 201 had the oil filter more in the middle.

The 188 Gas, Diesel & 201 gas are all the same length.

So the 600 and 660 will fit in a tractor?
