Case controls on Backhoes...

When did Case quit using "Case Controls" on the backhoes? was it all at once or did they offer both at the same time?

I know of a couple "c" era machines with joysticks, and other
C era ones with "cc"... I had always assumed that the change happened somewhere in that range. BUTTT... I helped a neighbor find a highly specced 480E(cab, AC, 4X4) backhoe recently though an online auction, and it showed up with case controls, it never even crossed my mind to look at that.

You can still buy the original CASE style foot swing version today,, they have went to the worthless pilot operated controls of course today for the ones who cant handle pulling a actual hyd spool to move cylinder, as you can tell I am no fan of electric over hyd controls,, there is zero "feel" with them and when you are digging around live pipelines ect that is something I want,, as far as the basic joy stick style, that was phased out after the 580L models in favor of the pilot versions I did get CASE to start putting in three position switch to give you better control and response with the pilot units,, I rented a new 580SM a few years back,, response was so slow I was waiting for it to react,, I have not got to try a new version yet,, hopefully it helped I get it though most are not capable of needing faster response time like I do,,

@Case Nutty 1660 they actually continued the old wobble stick and foot swing through the M series 1, the series 2 M was the first with pilot controls, may have been an option on the series 1 can't recall for 100%, the majority of the M's we sold were wobble sticks, early on I had to modify a swing tower in a couple to make foot swings because we ran out of used ones to install. had some older K towers that were foot swing and tons of the later wobble stick towers so we did some swapping and part replacement to make up foot swings until case finally started getting some out through whole goods

thanks for the correction, now that you say that the one I got was a series II we sold thousands of 580CK 580B and 580C units,, we sold 60% wobble and 40% foot swings then,, last I knew Case still offered the foot swing controls but may have changed by now,, I gave Case CE the design of the DB550 Minitour skid steer,, I told them how to built it so it would be more dozer like,, also insisted on steel track opinions,, saddened to hear they are dropping backhoe production in the USA,, flat out told them that was a huge mistake
