I just bought this 990 and the 3 point was working when I bought it but now it will not go down .what are all the levers and knobs for? I have heard about a lock on the left side but it is not locked thank

Does the latch lever on the left rockshaft housing move in and out freely when you rotate it?

If you push in the clutch fully, will the arms lower?

Make sure the selector lever is not in TCU as it will raise the arms in the lower position on the quadrant. That is normal operation in that position as you use the hand lever as sort of a manual draft control to add weight to the rear wheels by balancing the lift against the plow weight/suction to increase traction when slippage occours. mEl

I guess I was jumping the gun. It could be a user issue instead of a tractor issue.

1. Need more info, is it a selectamatic, or implematic?

2. In Reference to Mel's question, assuming a Selectamatic, The knob on teh right rock shaft housing:

TCU is turning the selector knob fully clockwise= draft control

"Height" is the center position= position control

"Depth" is the counter clockwise position(anti-clockwise if you are reading in the UK), plowing or similar implements with a gauge wheel

For general usage leave this in "height"

3. The knob by your right heel is the rate of lowering control, it adjust the size of the outlet from the 3 point lift cylinder. Somewhere in the middle will work for most use.

4. Do you have a 3 way valve? It is under your left thigh when seated, control lever moves left to right, it has 4 positions, it directs the fluid intended for the 3 point hitch to a loader or other accessory.

5. the 3 point latch, left rockshaft housing, plastic lever, cams out to disengage the lock. Clockwise is the free position. There are steel pins that the cam rides on behind the lever, I have seen these snap off many times, which doesn't give the cam anything to push on, which leaves it locked up regardless of where the handle is.

I do not have a 3 way valve. I run the tractor some today with
no luck of arms coming down yet. My little control on back
side right side says depth on it . It is worn off but can read
that . That little valve seems it is real easy to turn so I think
something has come loose in there. I am going to take that
cover off and see . Thanks for all the help I will keep asking
till I get it working

That control should have very distinct "Clicks" as you turn it from one mode to the next. In order to turn it, you need to pull the quadrant/Lift lever as far rearward as possible(against the spring pressure).

It could be that the roll pin that attaches the knob to the shaft is sheared, and you are in TCU mode as Mel suggested.

Removing the cover on the back near that know will let you check that out.
