Case dc splitting

I have 1948 case dc trying to split it comes 3 to4 inches apart and won’t come any further any ideas would be appreciated thanks
 
Did you remember to disconnect the clutch linkage, so the forks slip out of the throwout bearing assembly? They would start binding at about that distance.
 
you might also need to loosen the belt pully brake assembly to allow shaft to rotate further so the forks slip out of the throwout bearing assembly
 
Did you remove the snap ring 09016AB inside the clutch housing that secures the PTO shaft 09015AB. That’s an easy one to miss. sorry for the poor quality of the image. Chuck Machinist
