Not familiar with this tractor it will not roll I assume neutral goes front to back ? It rolled a couple months ago could something be frozen in side trans rear end temps in 20 ?

Yes. Mine did it a couple times before I changed fluid. When it froze up, I started it, engaged pto and let it run in neutral a while. After a bit it warmed up enough to thaw it out.

Neutral goes front to back, as you describe but I think it as "up and down", not sideways, like normal.
For sure, frozen water can cause exactly that. If you get temps above freezing or get it thawed somehow, crack the transmission drain plug, place a sheet of clean cardboard under it and give it an hour to see if water will seep put.

Problem is how to get in barn to thaw it out

yes neutral is front to back. get a tarp over it and a tiger torch with a stove pipe or pipe of some sort and let it thaw for an hr. or so. did many this way. no other way your going to move it without risking breaking something.

Build a small campfire under the tranny/diff. I've had to do that to two icebergs inside tractors I bought. Luckily, the old differential grease was firmly stuck to the steel parts, so no rust to speak of. Have I mentioned I hate broken shifter boots? Every drop of rain that hits the shift lever runs down the lever and into the transmission. I drained 6 gallons of steaming water out of the last one. steve

Have one here that broke a final drive chain. It will only rock a little, but not roll...

Find something with enough capacity to pick up the rear end of the tractor and wheel borrow it in some place to thaw out

Make sure the boot around the shift lever is in good shape. Rain water will run in the transmission at that point.
Steering column also.

I drained 6 gallons of water out of my DC when I bought it. Could be that the brakes have seized as well.
