Case E-7 sickle mower

I went to an auction tonight and looked at a 3pt sickle mower I thought was an Oliver or possibly a JD. Well it turned out to be a Case IH. I never new Case painted anything green.

Any-how, I did some dig'n but have come up short on results. It appears to be in the E-7 family. I am looking to find out;

Approx. years made.
Part numbers for knives.
What the different models were (EH, EHN, EV, EVAS and EDSC) for model identification.

Also if anyone has, or use to use, one any tips or tricks to it? This thing looks as if they bought it, stuck it in the back of the barn, and never took it out. Has all it shields, couple extra knifes, and a good looking and solid wood pitman with the Case IH name and part number clearly visible on it.

It looks a lot like the one in this picture.

Oh, and I only spent a wopping $70 on it, so there is some room in the budget for a manual. Didn't see any thing on fle-Bay so if someone has a line on one I wouldn't mind knowing about it......

If its green its not Case IH, it is JI Case, before Case bought the ag division of International Harvestor. The green implement color went away in the early 50s I thought but the belt drive may indicate 60s.

Dug up a little more info but still a tad confused. I found a picture of the different E7 series mowers from a parts manual. So I thought I would pass it along for the next guy.

The picture on the cover looks just like mine. However the photos showing the different models isn't quite the same. Cover shows a mounted PTO shield where the model identification shows shield on the shaft. Plus the main weight relief spring is on the opposite side in the model id, but on my side on the cover. Other than that it looks just like a EDSC7 & EVAC7 mower.

If I dig up more I post it.

Here is the picture form the cover of the parts manual. The one I have looks just like it. Notice the difference from the model id where the PTO shield and location of weight springs is? Not sure if it means early vers late or ??? I will be ordering the parts manual.....

I've an owner's manual dated 8/52, parts book dated 5/53, and sales lit dated 8/53 if that helps date the mower. Mine is painted green, as are most of the late forties early fifties implements.

I have an EDSC 7. Works well.

The edsc7 has an extension bracket under the drive shive to raise it up to align with the high PTO on the SC and DC. The ones for V series didn"t have the extension.

Well I am impressed. Just for kicks I hooked it up to the tractor and ran it through it paces. Made 4 50' passes. Cut orchard grass and weeds perfectly. No build up on the bar or clogging.

Next step is going to be going through it with a grease gun and changing the dry rotted belt. Probably should remove the pitman and take measurements too.

I am just tickled pink over the deal........
