First time posting on a forum so may be a little slow but I have a CASE 595 that the steering and 3 point are very weak. Have to idle the tractor very high to lift small implements and steer easy. Changed filter and fluid and still no changes it like something is stopped up in the system. Thanks in advance.

Does the tractor steer better if you hold the romote lever against high pressure. If it does the priority valve could be sticking (they did change them). You need 3 gpm for the steering. But you really need to flow check the pump. You should have about 2300 psi at the remotes. The inlet screen could be plugged Or a bad pump etc.

I have tried it with the remote lever
up an down still no change. We have a
fold down hay teddar that it will just
barely raise. Can I rig up a pressure
gauge to go in the remote?

JD,
Yes you can, But that is only going to tell you relief valve pressure. You will still not know pump flow.

Hi JD_5310, does the parking brake work? Or has someone driven it with parking brake on and filled the transmission full of chewed
up parking brake material? The suction line into the pump could be clogged with brake material.
As previous poster said a pressure test just checks the relief valve, a flow rater test checks flow capacity of the pump.
Make sure there is plenty of oil in transmission. It can be over filled by 5 gal.
