I am looking at buying a 1995 case ih model 3220 3 cyl diesel tractor with about 2300 hours. does anyone have any experiences good or bad with this tractor? Any advise what I should be looking for? Also will a case ih model 2250 loader fit this tractor? Thanks for your help. Herby D

Hi HerbyD, my brother has a CIH 3230 one size larger and a 495 one generation older than 3220. The 32XX was the last generation
of 54/74/84/85/95 series of IH tractors built in Doncaster, UK with German Neuss Diesel engines.
The Neuss engines were always good runners and last a long time provided regular maintenance is performed.
Most of the weak points of the 54/74/84/85/95 series have been fixed or re-designed in the 32XX series.

Re 2250 loader, my brother had his 2250 loader on his 495 first and then when he bought the 3230 we moved 2250 to the 3230.
The 2250 loader has many different mounting frames but the frames for 54/74/85/95/32XX have all the holes predilled for the
different models of that series.

i havent been around the 3220 but i believe that it is a newer version of the 74,84,85 and 95 series IH tractors which are good little tractors. now as
for if a 2250 loader fitting im going to say yes and no . since the 3220 is just a newer version the mounting holes in the frame should be the same.
however there are some differences that affect mounting the loader. first the 2250 loaders on a 4 wheel drive tractor the front tires hit the boom
cylinders on the loader so if you have a 2 wheel drive this wont be an issue . next the 74,84 and 85 series tractors had flat grills the 95 series and
newer tractors had pointed grills so brackets have to be welded on to move the loader forward to miss the grill. next most of the bigger tractors had 4
cylinder engines and the 3220 has a 3 cylinder engine so you will have to get out the tape measure to check the spacing of the mounting holes. lastly
you should have the later style heavy duty mounting brackets . IH had trouble with those loaders breaking engine blocks with the early style brackets .
the later brackets tied the front axle to the transmission to solve that problem. so what im thinking is you will have to be careful with that tractor
the loader might be a little big. just my opinion

as far as the tractor I have a 584 and its a good hay tractor and is very handy, I also have a caseih c80 and the rear end looks the same and carried through, I can't help you on the loader part but if one comes up around me I would buy it.

Solid tractor, parking brake big weakness (operator error though)

Have a 495 here, model prior to the 3220.

2250 loader will fit, but by the 3200/4200 era that was the 2wd QA loader (2255 was the QA FWA loader)

With the smaller 3cyl tractor I have seen 2200 and 2250 loaders mounted on 4x4 tractors.
