Case LA

[Vmax]

Just bought a 1949 Case LA. Changed oil. Online specs say 15qts. Took 9qts. Where there different size pans for these engines?
Magneto point sleeve (manual advance/retard for start/run) is rusted solid in run position. Does this matter when using electric starter. What is the test procedure for the generator, has 2 coil voltage regulator with two wires coming up out of the center of the generator and attaching one each to the bottom side of each regulator coil?

That big size engine can kick back and bust starter drive nose off ,then yeehaw you get to fish broken parts out of bell housing.
Did you drain the bell housing too? Engine oil goes in there from engine .small plug in bottom front of bell housing .many never drain it and it has cuttings from natural wear n tear of clutch

Wet clutch, best way to fill clutch is over fill the crankcase by couple quarts , run while . Check oil and refill as necessary to maintain clutch level. little different system as crankshaft has center hole to clutch. Oil is returned by flywheel throwing oil to trough on left side of block. Little different but rarely does one need to replace the clutch although it is adjustable as like road tractors (semi).
