Case pulling tractor

We are working on a 504 motor out of a 2670 to put in our 970 puller. Class limit is 540 ci, any tips or recommdendations on what to do to get there?

1.find good machine shop2. shave piston tops.3. weld up crank and offset grind it to make more cubes. 4. have fun.

What are you going to use for an air cleaner or filter?There isn't room enought.

Fred, the EASIESTcombination that would get you close would be to offset grind the 3" rod journal to 2 3/4 to get you to 5 1/4 stroke and use the 10.5 in" centerline rods from a 2290 that would get you to 529 CID. You would have to get custom pistons as the stock ones for a 2290 would be 1/4 out of the bore, You would need to decompress badly for those classes anyway so that's not a real issue. You could also play with different bore/stroke combos to get you closer but what I proposed is as stated the easiest. Please give me a call and I will get you with people who are where you want to be. Camming and turbo selection is extremely vital and don't fly on your own on that as there are people who know exactly what the Case engine likes, set up properly they will run with the rest. What are the other rules? Depending on rules I would spend the money on other stuff before I worried about 40 cubes. Alot of power can be had out of a propely set up 504 i.e. right cam, good heads, good fuel system. If we knew then what we know know we prbably wouldnt have fooled with stroking our motor. But anyway thats my 2 cents. I think best way to get that motor to 540 is have crank welded and ground to 5.36 stroke, use the stock rods and cut the pistons down. That will put you right on 540 and I believe it is the stronger way to do it.
