Case RS 561 Baler

I have a Case RS 561 baler that is driving me nuts. We have tried everything we can think of to keep it from jamming, but nothing works. Tried three times today and three times it jammed hard and turned the grass into talcum powder.

Hooked up the JD348 and square baled 125 without breaking a sweat....but this Case will not bale reliably.

The last several times we have tried to use it all ended the same. Hay jammed badly even though the rows were smaller and the speed was slow. This hay was baled late and was about 20% rye, the remainder coastal.

Any ideas? I am ready to sell this thing...I can"t use it.

I mean hay jams up down by the lowest rollers and makes a dam. Hay then continues to pile up and becomes like talcum powder as the grass is beaten. I have to dump whatever is in the chamber. Open the chamber and go in and pull the grass out that has jammed the chamber. Grass is caught between the guides that lead to the chamber and the roller. It is jammed hard enough that it takes a bit of force to pull it out.

Sounds like maybe the hay is too dry and/or very short, the first thing I would try is removing the compressor rack.... I think that's what you are calling guides.

I have one and it can plug if I suck in a pile of wet hay or straw that plugged the swather. Otherwise just made 72 canola straw bales and 100 or so alfalfa last year np. Belts need to be tight, check rollover torque required and bearings for heat

You must have missed the date on this thread, May of 2010. These fellows haven't been seen for years.
