I have a 1949 Case S which I just brought home and all gears work fine except I cannot get into second gear. It slips in about half way and hits a solid block. Tried rocking, feathering clutch, different RPM,s etc. Removed the gear shift lever ( two bolts ) and see the slots but have not tried anything. The slots appear to be mounted on plates. Is it time to remove the main transmission cover?
Also I have a generator that needs to be polarized but I cannot determine whether I have a type a or type b and can only see F and A terminals marked on the rectifier. My tractor is negative grounded but the ammeter reads backwards.
