Case SC tractor cooling system

I recently aquired a 51 Case SC project tractor. I find there is no apparent accommodations for a cooling system thermostat. The project, as I recieved it, has a thermostat wedged into the upper radiator hose. Is this the way it was designed? It looks like someone did this as an afterthought, but maybe it was never intended to have a T/S? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My moline 4 star tractor is like that factory. And while the radiator was off found another thermostat in the top tank as the clamp broke or came loose at some time. 1959 model.

I had an sc but don't remember. my vac had a weird inline thermo that basically is held in place by 2 hose clamps. external_link probably has one for your tractor.
