I have a case sc (I don't know the year, there is no tag on it) that has a wide front end on it that isn't original. Every thing fits but there is a brace that goes back under the tractor and there is no mount to hook it to. Does anyone know what model this is from as I have not been able to find any pictures of tractors that have this front end. I could probably make a mount but I wish I had the original narrow front tires on it.

Look on the left side of the engine where it bolts to the rear end. The serial number should be stamped there. If it does not begin with 60, subtract 4 from the first 2 digits to get the year.
A photo of the tractor would be helpful.

I have an extra Tri-cycle front but don't know how close you are to me am in NE Wyoming could do some trading if your not to far away Tom

Are you sure that it's not the correct axle? The correct axle has a brace that goes back under the belly of the tractor. It's a ball and socket type of connection. The ball is on the brace and the socket bolts under the tractor. There is a figure showing the wide fron axle on the CaseIH web site. Do a search for parts and type in "SC". I tried to give a link below.

I know this was just a misprint, but SC's were built in Racine, so late 53 and 54 model serial numbers will begin with "80"... Gene

The serial number is 4803309. Here are some photos of the tractor. The exhaust pipe was uncovered for who knows how many years and the rear rims are completely shot and it is missing the bottom cup of the air cleaner, so it may be only good for a parts tractor. I'm going to go to transmision shop and beg for some used transmision fluid to pour into the exhaust pipe and then let it set for a couple of months and then pull the head and see what it looks like.

I couldn't get your link to work. Can you try again? I can't find a picture of a sc with a wide front end.

1944 model; wide adjustable front. Parts are available. I would say all you are missing is a pin to fasten the radius rod to the casting. However, that's not what the parts books I have show as the correct set up. Look up underneath and see if there is a place the radius rod would attach.

Pull the spark plugs and squirt some trans fluid in each cylinder so you get some in cylinders that have valves closed. Rings could be stuck even if not rusted. Put the plugs back in.

Thanks for the tip on pulling the spark plugs. Much better idea than just pouring it in the exhaust pipe.

There is no place to attach a mount under the tractor. I would have to make a mount and maybe use the bolts on the side of the tractor. Probably not worth the effort but it could be done. I'm still trying to find out what model this front end came from. This is the way that I bought the tractor. I bought it from an estate sale from a guy that died so I can't ask him any questions, well I could but it is hard to get answers. ha ha

found a poor mistreated DC like that 20 yrs back ,that became a donor tractor ,..What could had happened ????WATER POURED INTO OPEN EXHAUST VALVE FROZE AND BUSTED THE SLEEVE ,as long as there is no water in oil , then all should be well... traded for a stuck 730 with the il pan off , suspected the same coulda happened , after a lot of soaking over 4 monthes, still stuck.. SO, pulled the heads , sleeves were OK , HONED Her good , Bought Rings and the OL 730 gasser is a Sweetheart Now ..

Thanks a lot C. Only the second time and we got it right already! That link was a big help. Apparently there was an sc model that came with the wide front axle. I wonder what year they were made and how many were made. The picture is not too clear but it looks like there are three bolts that bolt to the bottom of the tractor that holds the socket part on the tractor. Those holes don't exist on my tractor. Also mine doesn't have the ball. mine has ear with a hole in it for a swivel mount.
