Case 1845c
Didn't know where to post this, but has anyone worked on final drive/chain drive on a 1845c. Took wheels off today to put spacers on to get ready for ott's. Noticed when torquing up spacer that rear assembly had slack in it and made clunking sound. Centre three sprocket system moves up and down.
Has anyone ever changed bearings or bushings on that shaft?
How do I take apart to fix?
Any comments/ help apreciated!

Hey MSM, you are correct that they are slightly on the loose side, which led us to digging deeper. Decided to tighten rear chain because we heard a noise, went to loosen the hub bolts to slide hub and broke first bolt I tried. Now had to get into chaincase to get bolt out and while arms deep in there decided to reach main sprocket and that's where it moves when we twist a wheel. Without moving wheel or chain, I can pick up sprocket and move 1/4 inch. Now, shaft covers on outside of chain case has three bolts and maybe bearing holder. But that's where I'm not sure. Anyone have service manual for these that could look up and help me. Thank you

you might want to replace your bearing in that wheel as there should not be any play up or down. if not it will take your seal out if not already. those chains front and rear should be the same. about 1 in slop in them. to tight and they will take your bearings out. to loose and you will jump a cog and wear your sprockets. I have replaced one chain and one drive wheel bearings. simple job. bearings and seals can be bought on ebay for about 1/3 of what a case dealer will charge you. you definitely will need to fix that bolt. there's also a screw adjustment on the side that defiantly needs to be set when you wheel is adjusted correctly. good luck

I take it you are talking about the center
drive sprocket,our are you talking about
the drive sprocket on the axle

Pretty easy to replace the bearings in
the wheel hubs. NOT as easy to get into
the rear chain housings from the top, not
a lot of extra room.

I have had more than my share of experience with the axle housings on a 40xt. The 40xt replaced the 1845c. If the axle housings and bearings are the same feel free to call me and I can tell you what you need to know. wheel bearing/seals, axle housing failure were common in machines that lived in a world of manure. I have welded up and turned down axles and repaired many housings worn through. I have seen a few chains break also. Al

Hey Danney970, it is the centre drive sprocket, the one that chain drives off of hyd motor. Now I need to figure how to remove the bearings and replace.

Loosen up all 3 chains and in between the
two wheels there is a cap with 3 or 4 bolts
in it that will pull the shaft out of the
sprocket there are bearings in the sprocket
