Case tool trivia What is it????

Well guys, My former head mechanic when we were a Case dealer brought up this Case tool. which we will use to rebuild the 931. What is it????

Dang that brings back memories of lapping power cells. What was the lube we were suppose to use? Lanolin maybe.

I believe that is a lapping block. It was used to lap any flat surface. The block were usually made out of cast iron. However; some were made of mild steel. A loose grit was mixed with a fluid (usually oil) and then spread over the surface to act as the cutting agent.
Spent many hours working with them.

We had one of those stones at the Power Plant. We used it to lap in the Reed Valves on our Soot Blowing Air Compressors.
