Does any one know where i can get the seal protector for the seal that goes behind the brakes on a 580d .The part number is g15503 . My dealer says he can't get it . Any help would b app.

I use a plastic water bottle or pop bottle, cut to size.

as John said a plastic bottle will work. Simpler yet, is just make several wraps with saran-wrap tightly over the splines, lube with vasoline or greese and slide it on being careful to support the shaft, when installing the Quill in its final position.

ACG and John both have good suggestions. I use a 2" x 2 1/2" tail pipe swage and tape around the interface with wide clear plastic boxing tape on my 630. The 2 1/2" end just slips over the spline and the OD is same as axel OD, 2" end serves as the guide and the swage angle is gentle and smooth, what luck!!
