Was at this guys place yesterday, he thought he had a hyd problem with his 1370, he didn't. Got some pics. A late 1370 with the extended front axle kit & a Rod modified precleaner. 1977 by serial number, frameless rear window. A late 1030. The baler is for sale. If anyone needs one. He bought it new, used very little before he sold the cows.

Eric, that tractor looks like it has one of the front axle kits made over here in Iowa. I will think of the name this afternoon while planting. Wish I had that baler though, I have plans to get in the hay business in a couple years. Want to put the 430 to work. LOL. Rod.

That's part of the reason I bought that late 530 and rebuilt it. I put up a lot of hay every year, great winter money to support shop projects!

Thanks for the response. Enjoyed your pics. I wanted a 1570 but never got one. My 1170 remained adequate over the years.

I am helping my brother look for a wire tie baler. This past winter, his JD wire tie baler burned up in a neighbor's barn fire where he had it stored.

He bales 20,000+ small square bales each year in Eastern Kansas. All mechanically handled. A lot of his hay goes 500 miles to the SE around Alabama to feed expensive race horses.

Wire tie allows 90+ lb bales which allow a lot of tons to be hauled on each semi load. Also, rats and mice do not knaw the wires into.

I could tell you a horror story about rats and mice cutting string ties that were supposedly rodent resistant. Imagine a barn containing 12000 bales of straw and half had at least one of its plastic ties knawed into. BIG MESS!!!!!

They were on late 68's and 69s(correct me if I'm wrong) also, that 830 transmission had been pushed to far with the 1030, we had lots and lots of 1030's tore down with ring gear and pinion out. Cooling the oil helped but not enough.
