I have a cam and gear out of a 47 VAC with a VT 148 engine as I
recall, would sell for $40 for both. I can send photos. I'm not sure
if they would fit yours or not, I have little experience with Cases
and do not recall how to read the serial numbers or which parts are
interchangeable between the early and late versions of the VAC.

This tractor had an upright distributor as you describe. Here are a couple of pictures.

When you pull off the oil filter make sure there is a hollow metal stem in there that slides up into the filter. Soemtimes they come off with the filter and get thrown away. The head will not lubricate properly without it.

sure looks like the 1 , i done some seaching and the va series tractor had a 124 cc engine in them from 1942 to 1955 , so if this cam come from a va / vac it should work , how would you like to do this sale zach , iwould like the dist gear also , or even the whole dist if you have it, let me no when and how , this is a life saver for me , i would like to get my case back on the trails again , thanks

sorry for all the confustion on my part , i checked the vt 148 engine , its not the same as my 124 cid , wished i new more about cams

i was trying to find out what diff there was between the 124 and 148 cam , this is what was posted , yes they do, I have put "VA" series cams in 159 engines only problem you would have is installing one in a "power unit" type with a fuel pump as the "VA" ones do not have a lobe to run the pump, same lift/duration on them all , do you think your cam would fit my case vac , got this off the block vt328

i did change the oil and was comfused with this tube sticking up , but it did stay in place when i removed the oil filter
