I am looking at this tractor used, the seller dosen"t know much about it, was his fathers. It is a 1984 model 4X4, he said it might be A 55 hp but didn"t know if that was engine or pto. I was also wondering the weight of this tractor, i looked on "tractor data" and they don"t have this model. I would appreciate any help from someone who can tell me a little more.

The tractor is the final form of what was the David Brown 996, about 55 hp at the shaft would be in the ball park, it was the smallest 4 cylinder tractor in the range. 12 speed box with syncro on 2nd and 3rd gears in each of 4 ranges, don't think Hydrashift was an option on those, should have a Cararro (not shure of spelling) front axle with a transverse steering ram. Not a bad tractor in thier day, but she will be at least 22 years old now and things have moved on. Don.t know of parts prices and availability now, best to check, that factory shut a long time ago.
