Cell phone

I need a new cell phone, and I want to stay with a flip phone, I use a computer for the internet, don't need a smart phone. I want something that will fit in my pocket when I'm out logging, or hiking, or jumping on and off my tractor. The only one the Verizon store had in stock is rated very poorly in reviews, and won't do group texts. The one my wife has found that would be good for me is a Kyocera Dura XV Extreme. Has anyone used one of these? Thanks!

I had a Kyocera Duramax flip phone when I had Sprint. It did everything I asked it to do. It was durable enough to survive me landing directly on top of it when I slipped on ice. It did crack the screen but still worked fine. Sprint sold their towers in my area and wouldn't work anymore so that was the reason I got a different phone. I did go with At&t and a smart phone afterwards. Smart phones have good and bad points so I won't go there. I certainly don't blame someone for not wanting one. I do have a 2nd more rugged phone you might look at. It's a Sonim xp5. It's not a flip phone but I think they make a version that is. I don't know if either are available through Verizon.

I stuck with flip phones as long as I could.

I used to be hard on phones, got used a lot, dropped a lot. Had several like the one you are interested in, but not that brand, and they did what I needed, made and received calls. The best features were compact, no butt dialing, loud, and rugged.

The draw back is a very small screen, and a limited keyboard. Not good for texting, viewing pictures, or going online (if it even will), or GPS.

There are some folding phones out now. They are like a full size phone when open. The screen actually bends every time it's opened and closed. Did not look durable. But the price was the deal killer!

Whatever you choose, make sure it will still work after 2022. They're dropping 3g next year.

Consumer Cellular dropping 3g was the reason I had to get a new phone. My Iphone 5S never did work at my residence anyway. I got a new Iphone SE and with it using the WIFI coming from the router on my desktop computer, the Iphone SE now works at my home, outgoing and incoming calls.

I went with Straight talk, Bought it at Walmart. They had a flip phone. I decided on the 60 or 70 dollar phone because of the camera. I have the cheapest card at 35 bucks a month that I put on automatic monthly updates. That is what I am using for my videos.

well i just got a new Cat S22 flip phone , it is water proof , dust proof and drop proof . and has more STUFF on it then i will ever use or understand . You can troll the internet as it is and android base . A bit larger and heavier then my last Mil . spec phone that i had for 10 years that i really liked , but it was out dated and now would no longer work on our new system. Got a super DEAL on it as the buy it now was 235 bucks BUT oh wait they had a 200 rebate so it cost me 35 bucks . the new belt holster was i think 14 for it . Still way smaller then what they were tryen to make me get . I personally only need to TALK as i can talk a lot faster then i can type so i don't do texting and i don't need my cheaters to hear what someone is sayen.

I have the Kyocera as well, Like what was already mentioned, small screen for viewing, and not the fastest texting....... But I am not in great need for those features. Rock solid phone that works well to communicate, and thats all I need! Guys at work laugh at my flip phone, but hey, I tell them, at least I'm not boring you to death while I scroll my 9000 pictures to show you a pic. my tractor!!!!

I finally gave in and bought one of the android phones offered by Consumer Cellular. I mostly leave it in the house while I'm outside working on something. So now I see the CAT S22. That looks like something I could have used. Too soon old, too late smart.

I have the SE also, on the recommendation from my son who is familiar with the latest technology. Mine's a Tracfone. $200 for the phone, and $200 for a 12 gb data package which I'm now certain will last well over a year for me. Yes, it's too darn big for a front pocket, and I don't like the idea of sitting down on it in my back pocket, so that part is inconvenient. The rest of it, however, will serve me well.

they do not have any parts support Kyocera is a good phone but you can't get them fixed broke the screen on mine and had to find a used one

Whatever you end up with, shop around and see whats available. I would never, ever go to a Verizon/ATT/Apple store to get one. I adored my little flip phone until I got to where I couldn't hear or see well enough to use it and I could never text good on them. My SIL gave me a new smart phone and I was dead set against it until my granddaughter showed me I had the "talk to text" option. That and a real camera (I forget stuff, so I take a picture as I disassemble things- big help!) sold me. I got an armored case and a heavy duty belt holster and I have zero complaints. It has a zillion features I have no interest in, but the ones I use make up for that. I'd never pay what this thing costs. If it dies I'll find something similar. I use Tracfone and until they forced me to buy a plan, I was averaging under $4.00 a month for service. Also, you can buy insurance for the phone. I have used the $10 plan from Wally World twice now and have a new phone on the shelf and one on the way the kids broke. Well worth it to me.
