Hello,
I just heard that cell phone Numbers will go public this month?
Anyone know what happen while i was asleep?
Guido.

Would be nice if they did, so one could have a directory and able to find people any more.

At the same time, ban phone call advertising entirely, so that waste of time is taken away.

I dont see how they could list all of them lots of the prepayed ones arent realy listed to a person, you just buy it,load minuts and you are off and yakking,so I dont see a problem

No directory as yet, but cell companies are "leaking" numbers to anyone with the money to pay them. I'm already getting text messages from scammers that know far too much into, info that people claim they got from T-Mobile. T-Mobile should block calls from those numbers, but so far they've done nothing. They respond with, "Call Washington."

Hello RockyHawaii,
I have gotten text messages as well, and as you know, it cost you to receive the message.
I have registered my cell phone into the no call list.In the last few years only calls i get that are not mine are wrong numbers.
Guido.

Saw this same BS in the early 90's when we were paying $2.00 a minute. But if you do get a constant bunch of spam calls, you can go online and block the numbers I understand from my provider. But i did put all my numbers on the DNC list.

Hello LarryT,
I put my numbers on the list as well years back.
guido.

The problem with the do not call list is that everyone can get it so they can see who not to call. Once you put your cell phone on there, the dishonest users now know it as well. It's the dishonest ones who later claim a clerical oversight that is the problem.

Hello bc,
2 or 3 unwanted call in 6 years is good track record, don't you think?
Guido.

I don't know how it happened but I am already getting calls on my cell from people that SHOULD'T have it. I guess my cell # will go on the DNC list if I can still put it on there.I have my doubts about the DNC also.

Hello Richard,
I have registered my cell with the do not call list. The calls on my cell that are not mine, have been less then 1 a year.
Guido.

I put three numbers on the do not call list. The next day I started getting text messages. Had to have the boss put a text block on the company line.

I"d thank the telemarketers. Many people these days use Cell phones whose numbers were not public (phone book). You can put your number on the DO NOT CALL list, not that anyone will really follow the rules. Fastest way to get them off your back, get there names, supervisors, company name, etc. then when they ask why, tell them your adding them to your lawyer"s harassment suit. works for me.

here are some ideas to annoy telemarketers (fair is fair):
put them on hold.

pretend you fell asleep listening to them (snoring is really effective).

ask them dumb questions.

pretend you don't understand them.

talk to them as if you personally know them.

Ask for their home number to call back when your not busy.

pretend it is a buddy playing a phone prank on you.

ask them personal questions

say 'no' when they speak

ask them to repeat several times.

ask them to fax the info but give them a fake number.

Ask them to speak up that you cant hear them each time.

Voice of experience.....
