Chain Repair ?

Anybody ever use one of these? I'm wondering if they are peened or spot welded or even completely welded. Our hardware store sells the lap style ones but they are tapered on the ends anymore. This makes them almost useless...

After connecting the chain ends inside the link halves, you peen the "rivets" over to keep them together. I have had good luck with them.

I have used them for tire chains, they work well., I would never use them in transport chains. When my family was logging anything like that in a transport chain was forbidden. They are soft and will stretch.

These are available in Gr 70 for transport chain if needed. Also available in lower grades.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll probably get a few of these in different sizes for repairs for where I work and maybe around home too.
