Picked this up in a yard sale this weekend. Always buy old tools that I haven't seen before. Aluminum handle no name on it. Anyone know who made it? Handle is 6 inches long.

That’s probably for removing the freewheel on a vintage bicycle if the chain is bicycle chain sized.

That would work, but only if the freewheel is locked up. Otherwise it will do just hat it is supposed to do and allow free movement in the "loosen" direction.

I’ve had them get pretty tight.

I have the vice grip version, and have successfully removed stubborn oil filers with it.

I have had one for decades and only had to use it once.....problem unscrewing an OEM installed hydraulic multifunction filter on a new tractor. It worked just fine. It bit into the filter and didn't slip like most wrenches and opened wide enough to fit around the canister.

I don't know why folks building equipment can't read.....They apparently "torque" the filters on new equipment rather following the suggestions printed on the side of the can......3/4 turn after seal contacts. Had problems with most of my new stuff on first oil change.

It reminds me of a cast iron pipe cutter I rented years ago when I was doing work on my previous house. It had a cutting wheel and I think a chain of some kind. You went around and around and it cut the pipe off clean.

I've had pretty good success with the left-handed filter wrench that I carry with me. For some of the stubborn types, I have to get out the two-handed version.

I agree, that version does work.

I have a 12" and a 36", they sure are handy, if you have a round object, that a pipe wrench jaws can't span.
