changed the oil in the 9n and found these

Hi
Have a good running 9n, decide to change the oil today, and I found these, were at least 5 or 6 of these, I fished them out of the oil drain hole with my finger. Also tractor over heated when i warmed
it to change the oil not sure if related to these little pieces. Any ideas what they are.

Whoever put the safety wire on the rods did not know how to do it properly. Do not worry about it those nuts will not come loose. Henry thought they needed it if those engines were ever put in airplanes. ha ha Actually many early engines were built using safety wire. They have now figured out if it is mated properly and torqued it will stay tight barring a total failure. Probably was a good idea on machines like JDs where they had stacked shims in there.

May have been left there by someone making repairs in the past.......I have found beer bottles in air cond/heating ducts!

Is the metal screen that fits the drain plug still there/intact?
