Char-Lynn conversion on 1650

I removed the Saginaw steering in my 1965 1650 diesel and was replacing it with a char-lynn steering off a white 2-70. The hoses on the 1650 are compressed on the steel lines. The only thing I can think of doing is to cut the steel lines and put a compression fitting on the steel lines with the female fitting to accept the char-lynn hoses. I think this will work, but if anyone else has run into this problem and has a better solution, I would really appreciate any advice you could give me. I really thought the Saginaw lines would have had the female couplings on the steel lines. Surprise 1

If you have a hydraulic shop around that is worth a dang and actually knows what they are doing, there are special hydraulic fittings for doing this. It is a special crimp sleeve with a counter bore cut it in thats the OD of the hydraulic tubing. You cut the tubing off right flush with the end of the crimp sleeve on the old hose. The tubing slides in the counter bore on the new crimp sleeve and you braze it back together. Then you can crimp it on a new hose. Hydraulics is what dad does for a living and he keeps those fittings in stock for replicating off the wall hose assemblys like that. Thats how we did the conversion on my 1600.

I have used the fittings that oliverkid has mentioned. They are produced by the Eaton corporation. Trademark is named "Lifesaver series" http://www.eaton.com/ecm/groups/public/@pub/@eaton/@hyd/documents/content/pct_361579.pdf

We used a compression fitting on one of the lines going up front to the steering cylinder and it hasn't leaked .

I want to thank everyone for some good advice. I do have a good hydraulic mechanic close by and will put the suggestions before him and see what he thinks. I appreciate all the ideas given and will post the solution I use. Thanks again.
