Charging issue

I just had my 12 volt generator on my Ferguson TE 20-85 fixed and rebuilt. The amp gauge shows that it is working. However, when I run the tractor for 30 minutes or so, the battery runs down. This did not happen when the generator wasn't working (before rebuild). Anybody know what's going on here?

I was told the generator was polarized positive ground and the battery is hooked up positive ground. The battery shows about 12.3 volts when the tractor is not running. When running it drops to 11.2 volts even though the ammeter shows a positive charge. If the generator was mistakenly polarized negative ground instead of positive ground could it cause this issue?

Sounds like reversed polarity or improperly repaired. When you said you were told the generator was polarized, how do you know that? The easiest way to polarize is by putting it back into the tractor and using a small jump wire across regulator terminals after everything is connected.

If you paid someone to do this I would go back to that person to start with
