Charging lithium battery

I have 18v battery with out charger. I have battery charger for another brand battery that won't fit. Can I make up wires to between the battery charger to the battery without charger and charge it?

I wouldn't do that. You can however buy adapters to charge another brand battery. That's what I have done. I have an adapter that fits my Royobi to Dewalt batteries. Works great.

Are the batteries the same "technology", both nicads, li-ons, etc.?

What's the "rest of the story", is this to be a one-time thing to get some charge in a battery to verify if it and the "gadget" it's used with function, or a more permanent "solution"?

What's the gadget? Mite find the proper charger on ebay reasonably, or even at a thrift store, if it's a relatively common item.

I recommend you buy the right charger. Over charging can cause fires or shortedn the life of the battery.
Check out chargers on Amazon,. Not that expensive

Yes, I agree. I use the right charger for the proper battery. I may have not stated that clearly. I can use DeWalt batteries on my Royobi tools only after charging them with the appropriate charger.

It would help to know what brand it is. I know my little Homelite chainsaw takes the same battery as my Ryobi 18 v tools.

Lion batteries multiple cells connected in series. They should be charged equally which is why there are more contacts between the + and - terminals. The charger monitors each cell.

Please buy the right charger else you may well have a fire. You cannot farmerize lithium batteris/chargers.
