Charging system issues

Have a 65 Ford 2000 3 cyl gas tractor I replaced the generator on. Things worked fine, for a while. Then the charging system went out again. I measured about 1v on the field wire to the generator and assumed a regulator issue. Replaced regulator but still getting 1v on generator field and no charge output. Is is possible I lost another generator due to the original regulator?
