I have a 49 8n front mount 6v. If you mow or work it for a long time then shut it off and come back to start it the battery is dead. I don't leave anything on. Thanks for any help

irst blush says charging system not working & you are running a partly charged battery. A good condition/fully charged battery would run ignition-only for about a week of 8 hour days. After it sits long enough, it probably "self recovers" enough charge to crank it again.
 
While you could have a bad battery (see tip # 49) chances are it's the v/r or generator as JMOR said. Check out the flow chart to figure out which one it is.
