Check valve

Did the torque on the plug that holds the check valve on the lift cover,"61 801, got to about 40# and just seemed like it was bottoming out. New o-ring, ball. Is this just the o-ring pushing up in there? Thanks for any info. Never messed with that before.

guess that if you put a new ball in there, that you realize that you are compressing the spring, too?

Yes I realize that on spring. Just scared of the way it feels torquing up in there but that is what the manual says. Before it had a smaller than 15/32 ball. Got couple from fastenal.
