Chopped my corn

Still chopping like an Amishman here, 4 rows at a time... but compaction isn't an issue.

This is from this morning. Have a ways to go yet.

The trucks haul to the dairy and they make a silage pit. This year the dairy that bought it is about 4 miles down the road. The trucks do cause compaction but we do conventional tillage and we will run a ripper to soften it up

I see most of the local dairies here in Central MI use dump trailers pulled by tractors or semis with end dump trailers for silage and corn picking or ground ear corn and hay. Most of the local guys using self unloading wagons are smaller doing it themselves. We used to pull the wagons behind the chopper with 3 row head. The uni would chop about as fine as the picture without any screens if you keep the knives sharp and ledger tight.

They have great kernel processors- usually do a better job than the self propelleds because the processor is not much smaller, but has a lot less feed going through. Wagon needs vary with the length of the haul. Had 3 haulers yesterday, 4 today (longer pull).
