Going down the last row that year. The 966 chopped corn and haylage for many years for us and never let us down . Almost look like advertising pictures from a IH brochure.

After I quit dairying and moved to southcentral PA I used to go help my neighbor some with fieldwork. More recently he's gone the same route a lot of guys are going with hiring out the chopping for both his corn and hay. However, he used to chop corn with a IH 1086 and a New Holland 900 chopper running a 3 row head. The 1086 was turned up I think close to 180 hp. It had no trouble running that 3 row head.

I do crop insurance work. I was doing appraisals for a client for his APH yield purposes. I tried to watch the chopper, but those self propelled chopper drivers are crazy!. I had to run for it one time, dropped my bucket and scales and ran like Heii. Obviously he missed me, but getting run through one of those things would definitely make you have a bad day.
