Chore boots

My last three pair of chinese made Muck boots have been poor quality and poor fit.
What are you guys using now for feeding and chores?

I have 2 pair of Field and Stream knee boots,they are 100% waterproof,warm and comfortable.

Kennetrec I upgraded from whites because the
kennetrec has a spur ridge and they fit in a stirrup
just like a regular cowboy boot . They are warm
down to 30 below zero I?ve had them for 3 years
looks like I can probably get another 3 or 4 before I
need to get them rebuilt my whites lasted 14 years
and I only had them rebuilt once whites are heavy
and that?s the reason I didn?t rebuild them again
also no spur ridge and they don?t fit in a stirrup.
They have excellent traction when your on your feet
as well

Had the same problem, one year and they leak. Bought a pair of Kamik boots made in Canada.
So far very impressed, and half the cost of the Mucks.

I've been looking at Kamik boots lately as well. There are some on Amazon with very encouraging prices.

Are you looking for Winter boots? Looks like you're in Missouri, so not sure how much "warmth" you need. Kamik has insulated and uninsulated models.

Have you tried spraying them with armour-all? With some low grade rubber it
helps.

I just buy the cheapest rubber boots from Walmart.
They fit me fine and last about 4-6 months of dairy
barn chores. Then I throw them away and get a
new pair. I were them 7 days a week.

Bought a pair of Muck knockoffs at TS going on three years ago for 1/2 the price of Mucks. Must be Chinese but so far so good.....

I ordered a pair of Muck boots from Bass Pro last week. This post reminded me I need to check the shipping. They left Strafford, MO, went right by my house on I-44 to St Louis, they are now in Kansas City. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Is this what the meaning "I have come full circle" means? lol

I have a 45 year old pair of Canadian made Sorrels that are still in good shape. However, they would not be good chore boots, and the real ones have not been available for over 25 years.



When you do get some good ones, insulated innersoles can make a huge difference in fit and comfort in cold weather.

Local feed store sells both Muck and Dry Shod. They report Dry Shod holding up a lot better than Mucks. My son got me a set of Muck Arctic Sports for Christmas last year and they have a hole in them already. I'll be trying Dry Shod, for $40 less!, very soon. From what I'm told the local Amish, who won't spend money on junk, love the Dry Shods over the Mucks.

Thanks to all for the input. 5 inches of white stuff and 20 degrees here this morning.
I'll look into the brands mentioned. No Mucks for me, I've learned my lesson.
SV, I like those Kennetrecs they look comfy but prefer a pull on over a lace-up . Thanks.

I used the knee-high Tingleys for my entire farming career, up until the geniuses at Tingley decided to replace the 17" rubber boots with 15" PVC
boots. the PVC don't even qualify as a poor excuse for a replacement. they are stiff, and I have bought 3 pair of new shoes, trying to find
something that will slip inside the PVC, and come back out w/o taking my shoe off with the boot. baby powder doesn't help either. so, as of now, I'm wearing my last pair of racing
slick tread 17" Tingleys, and keeping my tire patch kit on standby to try and make them last as long as possible.

We have had good luck with LaCrosse. Wear them around the farm and in the sugar bush. Do some hunting with them. I have had a pair over a year now, but I don't wear them every day either.

My 11 year old needed a new pair, but I didn t want to buy another pair of Mucks for as fast as he s growing out of things. I bought him a pair of Tidewes I found on Amazon. They aren t cheap, but cheaper than Mucks and so far seem to be made as well if not better.
BTW, I ve heard the same story about the "original Muck guys" starting both Dryshod and Bogs. Not sure either one is true.

ere is a trick that works for me when wearing Tingly boots . Place a plastic bag over your shoe , it will slide in and out easily . The bag only last a couple of days , but the wife keeps me in a good supply from the grocery store . LOL

Tingly still makes an all rubber over-the-shot boot.
