I posted a few days ago about some problems I was having after
changing the fluids. All is well and working but I was about 2 gals.
short of full. My nearest CNH dealer is 35 miles away and I can't drive
that far. So I called the dealer I had used in the past that services
our area once a week. They were sold to another chain but said they
still did that. I asked for two 1 gal. Hy-trans, said ok, be there
today. I received it today but it is a 2&1/2 gal of CNH's synthetic
version. My question is would you mix them, 80% hy-tran/ 20% synthetic?
Thanks Jeff

Yup they will be compatible. There used to be scare stories about that issue with the trucking industry about the time synthetics hit the market 25 or so years ago with the oils mixed would ball up and not work and all that. IT is a cock and bull story. I've mixed conventional oil and synthetic in gear boxes like truck transmissions and rearends when I needed. Ran them till change time and drained then put in new oil usually synthetic with no problems both trucks have over 1,100,000 miles on them. Sae transmissions andrearends in them. though at the million mark I did change the one trucks rearends just out of concern for wear. When I got it out it looked like new. I did finish putting the new one in since I already had it. Did I need to no.
