Clarkson's Farm

How many of you all have watched the
Clarkson's Farm British television documentary series.
if you have not you need to watch
start with season 1
there are 4 seasons out and they will be filming 5 soon
it a enjoyable documentary its not for younger eyes
but its a fun watch .
I love it but wouldn't call it a documentary. It has been credited with a renewed interest in farming and certainly brings it it a wide audience. I've watched season 1 3 times.
Great viewing.

I enjoyed it for the most part. I'm sure many (most?) aspects are staged and I realize when watching it you only hear "one side of the story" in all his opinions, fights with local council, etc. But the fact that it's renewed folks' interest in farming and sometimes expresses how financially strapped and stressing farming can be is admirable

But I really, really disliked the last few episodes of the last season. It became, 'Clarkson's Pub'. And it seemed like it was just another show about some rich, uppity celebrity starting up a pub/restaurant and being rude and stressing out all folks working for him. Not at all like the first few seasons, and not at all what I want to watch.

I don't think that's actually what Jeremy Clarkson is like (or rather: I hope not): From everything I've read elsewhere about him, I think his heart is (for the most part) in the right spot. I'm rather wondering if the Amazon producers noted that they've success with the many 'Jamie Oliver' type shows where some celebrity is stressing out and getting uppity when starting up a restaurant/kitchen, and Amazon decided they could get some of the same mileage from this show.

It also seemed like with every season they tried to make it a little more intense, with a little more drama involved. But in my mind, the earlier and simpler episodes showing the regular/daily trials of farm work were the best.

I've enjoyed all four seasons so far and look forward to the fifth, and likely final season that I think is coming out in February. A neighbour of Clarkson's, Harry Metcalfe, has a youtube channel showing life on his farm (Clarkson has appeared with him a couple of times). Harry's Farm gets into the actual workings of a British farm and is quite interesting although somewhat dry. Watching both Metcalfe's and Clarkson's shows I can hardly believe all the bureaucracy they have to deal with whether it's growing crops or trying to improve and diversify their farms.

We watch Clarkson's farm. It is entertaining and I believe raises awareness of how difficult farming can be. Others have commented about him having a farm store, restaurant, pub, but these outlets are to sell, use farm products and create jobs in farming communities.
