clutch issues on a 900

iam not to sure is a 900 but my grandpas tractor has a two clutch disc assembly and well i thought the clutch was which it was so i replaced it and now its still doing the same darn thing now i have check everything that could be wrong the pressure plate doesnt look wore the fingers on it all look good but the darn clutch doesnt work but the pto works just fine with the clutch. and belive me this is not the first time i have put a clutch in this tractor does any one have any ideals what could have went wrong

I agree with awhtx, I am having the same trouble. It's going to be very, very difficult to R&R a double clutch without the special jig to set it up, and have it work properly.

You need a special jig to set it uo and ajust the pair of clutches to work properly.

You really haven't said what the problem is - 'it doesn't work' doesn't tell us enough to even guess as to what went wrong. Do the gears grind, does the clutch not engage, does it not release, is the pedal too high, too low, or 100 other questions.

Really would need a detailed description of where you are at to figure anything out.

"its still doing the same darn thing now" What might that be?

You say you "replaced the clutch". That could mean about anything, including replacing with a factory reman, having it overhauled by a clutch shop, or replacing the disks yourself. Which was it?

Most importantly: Was the clutch assembly properly adjusted, following the procedure outlined in the factory shop manual using the specified alignment fixture?

Ok what is going on is that the clutch will not disengage, the clutch however does disengage the PTO. I replaced the clutch its self and put it back together. The clutch was bad, it was down to the rib bits. This is not my first time putting a clutch in this tractor i have the tools. Putting the new clutch in made no difference at all. Could it be anything else beside the clutch and pressure plate. Could there be something in the trany is what I'm asking. Yes i did have the pressure plate checked and all the springs too and they are fine. Sorry about earlier i was in the middle of my posting and got caught by the neighbor who needed help putting the cows back in the field.

If the PTO clutch disengages and the transmission clutch does not, then the clutch assembly was not properly adjusted prior to installation. This is a common problem, and the fix is to split the tractor again and take the clutch to a shop that works on these things. If you don't have the special fixture for working on this clutch, you won't be able to set it up correctly. I'd say that most clutch shops don't know how to set them up. In fact, a while back someone who worked at a dealer said it was common to see factory reman clutches that weren't set up correctly.

You'll see a post a few days back where someone has the exact same problem.
