clutch JD 4020

hello. need some help thinking here. had a little episode here a while back and things got fuzzy for a little bit but
things starting to come back now...have a friend with a later 4020. The question is, is the clutch out. I haven't
had time to really look it over. when she isn't running I can get it in all the gears, and also get it out of
park......but I am depressing the clutch. battery's down, so didn't try to start.....either...am I wrong, if the clutch
was out, and it was running, and in park, we couldn't get it out of park.....same if started in gear, we couldn't get
her to stop right ? my other idea was maybe we need to adjust the clutch, maybe the plates are not separated enough
and maybe a adjustment problem. one fellow was telling me there was an observation plate you could look thru
to see if things are moving on the inside...is that the one on the bell housing, near the injection pump ?

one fellow said that sometimes the fingers/plate could get rusted, if not used for a while, but this was used this
past summer.

thanks

The access plate is under the bell housing.
Clutch might be stuck.
You do not need to depress the clutch to put into park or to change stations. (Instead brakes should be pressed).

After removing inspection plate in the bottom of clutch housing that fdt860 referred to look for a broken PP operating bolt. If bolt is broken one PP finger will not have any tension on it.

Disk could also be severely warped or facing could be coming off and "stacking".
