Clutch Replacement questions

Morning people!
Just a quick question...When replacing the clutch; do you replace just the clutch disk with the pads on it or is it better to replace the entire setup?

when I step on the clutch lever to disengage it the 9 keeps rolling so I'm thinking it's time to replace it (minus I posted this backwards...should have mentioned this first but such is life. Been one of those mornings!)

may just need adjustment. there is a screw in the pedal that frequently wears down.

since splitting the tractor is such a godawful endeavor ( ive split mine 3-4 times in the 1.5 years ive had it) spray some brake cleaner in thru the timing hole and see if that doesnt clean any goop off the clutch plate.

if all else fails, i replaced the clutch plate but not any of the other equipment, and had a significant improvement in how the clutch felt.

If I go to effort to split the tractor, I replace the clutch disk, the pressue plate, the throwout bearing,
the pilot bearing, and the transmission input seal.

Gotta agree. When I did my last N I did all of that I had the flywheel surfaced and put a new ring gear on.

I think the N is an easy split. When I did my 1206 Farmall it was a chore. Trust me, everything that was a wear item in that was replaced! For those of you who have never been near a larger tractor this one pulls a 5-16 plow and an 20' tandem disk. 112 PTO HP. Just a tad bigger than an N. Spend a day on that and then you want to get the N to go play in a sand box!

HCooke,That;s the proper way to do it.That way you don't have to split the tractor 3-4 times every year and a half.Once for the clutch plate,Once for the pressure plate, Once for the throw out bearing,Once for the pilot bearing,Once for the transmission seal.Wait a minute !!Thats 5 times!Hey you could replace one item per year and set it up on a 5 year rotation.LOL
