(quoted from post at 12:08:10 10/11/23) clutch on JD 3010 grabs and go's no smooth easy start.

Take the inspection cover off underneath and have a look up in there with a good light. (OBVIOUSLY NOT with the engine running!)

Is/was there water in the clutch housing and the parts are rusted?

Are the clutch parts oily and dirty? (Usually that will make the clutch slip but can also make it ''grabby'' if there's some grit in the oil.)

Could also be cracked pressure plate or fingers way out of adjustment.

In any case, though, most likely it will need to be split and have the clutch components repaired or replaced as needed, as well as the engine crank seal and seal between the transmission input shaft and the PTO shaft.

To add to worn outs post remove the timing cover on the right side and spray some Kroil or PB Blaster into the fly wheel openings,,it can help loosen the mechanism up some.,,Also when you look up into the fingers check to see if they are meeting the release bearing evenly,, it is possible to readjust them from the bottom..I'm just thinking about little things that may work with out splitting it..
