have a g-1000 Moline with a turbo charged, p-pumped 504 diesel engine. have a rebuilt clutch and am weighing around 10,600lbs. i still cant take off in 5th gear low. am not having a problem with 4th low or high. am wondering if there is a slipper clutch, double disc, etc. or what the best option is. looking for some help. looking to repaint the tractor but want all the bugs worked out.

You may try kenny's pulling parts in kentucky for a double disk clutch, he builds clutches for all brands.

so you think that a double disc would be the preferred way to go. i think my main problem is that i am having to ride the clutch a little to get it to build enough boost to take off. once again somewhat new to this type of pulling. have pulled a lot but never had enough power to run in road gear. thanks for the help.

Kenny's pretty reasonable in my opinion. The double disk should help a bunch, and it still leaves you in control of when you "launch" more than a slipper clutch and helps if you need to ease it off the line a little (track conditions) where as a slipper pretty much needs to be hammered from the beginning from what I understand.

Yea most of those ih guys are running a 14" dual disk and they're holding 800 horse maybe a little more. If youre cranking the rpm's (much more than 3000) you'd better get an sfi approved setup, it will cost more but be safer. For your classes id say a pedal clutch over a slipper. Alot of guys here are running pedal clutches until you get to pro or super stocks. Where are you located? There is also a place called molarini race products that makes clutches out of califorinia, he sells both types. I'd give kenny a call first and see what he prices a good double disk to you for.

Do you have a girdle under the crankshaft? If not you will soon be picking the crank off the track.The leap from 4th gear to 5th is a bunch.It takes alot of horsepower to run road gear in a G-1000.If you want info on how to make a MM diesel run call Dave Otto at St Thomas,MO.

I had some friends that thought they could run high 3rd in a 1256 IH.They put in a slipper clutch and found out that 400 plus horses wasnt enough to pull high 3rd.They could run easily run high 2nd.

I always thought a bunch of fuel in an energy cell motor,just made smoke not power.

Do you have any 585's around there? They seem like a better set up. Or an 800 for that matter

If you used a stock fiber clutch then that is your problem. You need at least a button clutch to keep the clutch from glazing over.
