CNH PTO seal

Just a note to say how well the pto seal from CNH worked for me.

After R&R an old seal (w/ leather dust shield) I came up with a slightly bigger leak. Tried adding a shim to position seal at different part of shaft which slowed the leak only slightly.

Got a seal from CNH with design similar to the old original seal. Installed it and no leak!

Cheap seal - $7. CNH seal - $20 ... Worth it for me.

Just wondering ... are there other CNH 8N parts some of you guys found to be worth the premium price?

IIRC most of their gaskets are better than the Tisco ones. I've used some of their gaskets when I replaced the fly balls in my governor. They were really nice quality.

I read a few weeks ago that CNH signed a contract with Tisco to provide parts for them. Not sure of the details.

i've put a cnh pto seal in all the pto shaft's I've rebuilt.. never had a leak again..

I would suspect the problem is in the application of a certain seal rather than the quality of the seal being used.

I for one would never change an oil seal without first being absolutely sure the surface the seal is making contact with is absolutely free of score marks, scratches, or other imperfections, and is concentric and not beyond the capability of the seal to do its job.

Seals have come a long way over the years, but the trick is using the correct design to meet the needed application and that all parts are within spec.

The seal being sold for this application may not be the best choice for the conditons in which it is being used.

imho.. the pto seal cnh sells is quite appropriate.. and is used in pto systems acrosss a huge variety of machines.

it's far superior to the older designs in materials and workmanship..

Just got off the phone with the parts man at my hometown NH dealer.
I needed a pair of rubber ferules for a diesel fuel line. You'd never find them anywhere else.
He had them in stock and is mailing them to me.
My experience with CNH is they are the right parts and are high quality. None of this almost right stuff.
Yes my dealer sells Tisco now too. About a month ago I ordered new king pin bushings for a 4000.
He checked his books and sent me the ones that were cheapest. The lower bushing and thrust bearing were CNH. The upper bushing was Tisco.
CNH is competitive for a lot of things.
But I like to support them even if it costs a little more. Yeah you can get most every part you need for an N through this site or someplace like nnalert. But when you get in to newer tractors a lot of times CNH is the only place to get it. If we don't support them where are you going to get hard to find parts when they fold?
My Hometown dealer is Aitkin Impliment in Aitkin Minn. Parts man there is old school and KNOWS where to find stuff.

I agree. with the exception of their 500$ muffler setup( muffler, riser pipe, and clamps and gasket).. I was at cnh 3x last week getting items for my 4600

I saw your muffler post on the other board but didn't realize you needed the 4600 style ex manifold and bracket deal. I have one here if you ever need one.
