Cold Soldering Gun

I have an old Weller gun that barely produces enough heat to melt solder on its tip. Is it dead or can it be saved? I'm trying to solder electrical connections , if that matters.

If you have a Weller soldering gun a good chance you will have to tighten the two places the gun tip connected to the gun.
I make new tips using 10g copper wire. Much cheaper

The thread title reminded me of the "as seen on TV" add several decades ago. It advertised a battery-powered cold solder gun that was safe to touch___. Yea, right; that turnip truck is long gone.
