Color code or color

Just picked up a 1944 VAC. Just wondering what is the correct color ?

Flambeau Red is what it's called. It's readily available.

The only time you need a color code is if you plan to use automotive paint. I used a GM color on my Case tractor. The code was Dupont 71 and the color was called Skittles Red Orange.

I wonder what that color was called before Skittles hit the market in 1974?

Unless you love to mix and clean up a spray painting gun every time you want to paint a part, find a source who offers paint by the gallon and spray can.
