Combine comparison over the years

I had a slip over sleeve for extra thermal protection from that hot metal by the armrest.

MF300 slant 6, only combine I have operated and it has been 20 yrs.
It is still in the trees outback.

I went from a 750 Massey with Perkins to a 1660 Caseih. It was also a leap for me only backwards. That 750 would run circles around the 1660. But the grain sample was so much better from the rotary.

Adding a scythe and cradle to the display would about complete the evolution of small grain harvesting.

Never knew make of engine only it was a flat head 4 cylinder and toweard the end we were running a 55 Desota radiator on it. When that tire under the seat blows you drop fast. Never had the straw chopper that we wished we had. The person we bought it from delievered it 30+ miles on a ditching machine trailer behind a John Deere 1010. He had a 3010 that was too new that you could not get parts for, It had partial burnt and he got it to fix up only to find he could not get the parts. The corn head was a No 22 head, orignal head would have been a no 15 head. 2 40 inch rows. Earilier we had a Massey Clipper self propeled machine. That was a 7 foot cut canvas machine with the enging underneeth. I liked driving both.

i have 3 runnable Massey 300s ,, one has a perkins Diesel motor ,,. They served Me very well . But My health has failed me and farming full out , Full force , days are over .. Therefore , they are for sale ,, Btw ,, They will do just as good of a job as that black thing , And The 300 has steel shaker seives and shoes insted of modern plastic junk ,,. When these new machines are worn out , They will have to be scrapped ,,.My 300s will still be operational

Never heard of a Massey 42 inch cut combine, what model would it have been? We had a McCormick 42 inch cut, right hand cut. Then there was an AC 40 that was a 40 inch left hand cut. Those are the only 40 inch machines I ever of? Could it have been a McCormic instead of a Massey?

I had a JD 95 with a 24' header and later upgraded to a MF 760 also with a 24' header, both used (the JD well used)
but the MF had AC in the cab and it was a sweet running machine that did a good job for me.

In repairing the JD after purchasing, I think I learned how to replace the packing in every screwball type of hydraulic
cylinder that JD could find and install on their equipment.
