Combine Cousins

My CASEIH 1660 is a small combine be today's standards, but it sure makes the 660 look tiny. Someday I hope to have both operating in the same field harvesting soybeans. I think the 660 is ready for a test run, but rain delays may force me not to take the time to play with it this harvest season. Sure hope mother nature cooperates. Rod.

Rod,I cut my teeth on a 960.Brother had the IH 1660,actually both brothers had the 1660 at one time or the other.I suspect the 600/660 and 1660 are two of the highest selling combines built. Thanks for the response on the 1570, been busy ,haven't had time to get into it yet. Wayne

Beautiful picture Rod. The red combines are good no doubt about it. Still like the little girl better. RB

When they introduced the "1660" CaseIH, what remained of the Case dealers that became CaseIH dealers really had a shot in the arm seeing the model "1660" put on a combine again. I remember it well.
In my mind Rod, your "1660" is still a BIG combine to me!

Love the team picture Rod

Rod, Great Shot,, I will stay with the Real Case 1660's here, the ones I have will run me the rest of my life. I am sure you will enjoy any time in the 660 more than the rest of your harvest with the Axial-Flow 1660 lol hope you get to use her, from every post I have seen and people who run the new machines of today Nothing will clean and save grain like my old ones do, sad really they had to chose between production and quality but I understand

Tom I am always amazed at how shiny and polished the head is on your 1660, I do look forward to running a 660 again. Rod.

Super looking combines all of them. I have three 660 s in the shed and I do not farm. what diesel engine did Case put in the 1660 and 1665 s. I think a 451 turbo would really hall the mail.

1660/1665 have the Perkins 359 dsl, Two reasons I know of for not using the Case 401 or 451

# 1 was weigh savings for the rice combine market,

#2 Sadly was the fact it was Far cheaper to buy a Perkins than it was to buy the Case engine from their own Company,, the 188dsl used in the 600/660 and the Case 251-267-284 gas and 301 dsl was a Costly upgrade that is why yous see so few of them today, the 188-201 gas int he 600/660 must have been reasonable as they used them in some Case swathers also, And I agree 100% with you in the fact it would have been a great power plant for them
