What model combine has an engine that will fit into a 77. Co-worker heard of this and says it will work well and give you around 90 hp

Got me scratchin my head. Some of the early ones used the same Continental as a 70 I think, but I don't know how you'd get 90 horses out of one of those.

Are you sure he was not talking about Farmalls and the 301 combine motor, or maybe he thinks a 310 from 1850 was in a combine

Better talk to him again

The 354 Perkins diesel out of a lot of combines will work in the 1850,2-85 and 2-105. They'd be around 90 horses.

He has a couple 77's and an 88. He lost last week to an M and a 77 with a combine motor --- now he wants one for himself

I can't magine what it would have been. They used that Continental, several Chryslers and a Perkins diesel. The 77s were the Oliver/Waukesha. I've heard of one or two odd ones that were reportedly equiped with those, but it wasn't something that they did as a regular thing.

the only motor the guy could use is a 310 out of a 55 series tractor. there never were any waukeshas used in combines just continentals, cryslers, and perkins. maybe a hercules to but i don't know oliver combines that well.

They put a super 88 motor in some model 40 combines did they not? It wouldn't be 90hp but would still be a lot better than stock.

It coulda been that he was gettin his chain yanked a little ------- sometimes tractor-pull opponents don't always show all of their cards.

I have a early 60s Oliver 430 combine that runs the Chrysler Industrial 265 flat head 6 rated at 93 hp @ 2150 rpm, it doesn't have the same engine mounts as a 77 but I'd think it would go in real easy. The way Olivers are setup with the four flat engine mounts and drive shaft between engine and trans you can put whatever engine you want in there long as center of crank lines up with trans input shaft

Well a fairly popular cobble up for worn out 77's was putting in a Chevy six (230?, 250?). Maybe he put in a Chevy six out of an old Gleaner?
